Sultan of Oman Fellowship in the Study of the Islamic World

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, a Recognised Independent Centre of the University of Oxford, is engaged in the multi-disciplinary study of the Muslim world.

The Centre is seeking to appoint a leading scholar engaged in research, teaching and publication in any area of the arts, humanities or social sciences focussed on the history, culture, civilisation and contemporary life of the Muslim world. The Fellowship offers an excellent opportunity for sustained research, to work with world-class colleagues, and an intellectually stimulating research environment, drawing on the Centre’s extensive academic links both within Oxford and internationally.

The successful candidate will undertake research and develop academic projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. S/he will be a full member of the Centre. (Subject to experience and by mutual agreement the successful candidate might also be invited to act as the Centre’s Senior Tutor and/or to undertake some teaching.)

The fellowship is tenable from October 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of five years in the first instance. A competitive salary on a scale £53,368 to £64,033 will be determined by qualifications and experience.
