Instructorship in Arabic

Applications are invited for an Instructorship in Arabic in association with the Faculty of Oriental Studies, tenable for five years from 1 September 2013. The salary will be according to experience on the scale £26,264 - £31,331, per annum. The Instructor will be expected to give up to 20 hours of instruction in Arabic in each week of the University’s Full Term. Of these, up to 10 hours will be taught for and be directed by the Oriental Studies Board and up to 10 hours will be taught for and be directed by the Centre. The place of work will be the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and other appropriate places within the University as required. Applicants must have a native or equivalent command of Arabic, and be fluent in English. Proven experience of teaching Arabic as a foreign language is essential. A first degree (BA) in Arabic Language or Literature is essential. A further degree (MA or PhD) in teaching Arabic as a foreign language, or in applied linguistics, would be an advantage.
