‘Migration, Islam and Multiculturality in Europe’ was the theme of the international symposium organized by Hacettepe University Migration and Politics Research Centre (HUGO) in cooperation with UNESCO-MOST in Turkey and Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies between 11–12 April 2013 in Ankara. The President of the Turkish Republic HE Abdullah Gül delivered the inaugural speech on 11 April 2013. Panels focused on the themes of Muslim immigrants in Europe: identity, integration and assimilation issues and their role in common struggles in Europe. The nine panels in the symposium were spread over two days with participation of specialists, academics, policy makers as well as leaders and politicians.
