Library Lecture, Michaelmas Term 2019

The lecture will put the portraits in historical and art historical context, and show how the evolution of Mughal painting produces greater accuracy in the depiction of material culture. The portraits then become an important source of information about jewellery and jewelled objects, which have mostly disappeared.

The lecture will take place at 5.30 p.m. on 14 November 2019 at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Marston Road, Oxford
